Kevin and John Gray opened their flagship custom furniture store in 1995, followed by smaller ventures in the Custom Home Family of stores in 2015 and 2018. Now the brothers are expanding into Leland, with a Custom Home Furniture Outlet slated for the Waterford Commercial Center at 2062 Olde Regent Way.
The outlet will hold a grand opening in early February, which will include a ribbon cutting with local officials and VIP shopping event. According to Custom Home Furniture management, the exact date will be announced in the coming weeks. The 55,000-square-foot, two-story showroom will cater to the Brunswick County market by offering furniture that's ready to take home right away, rather than the custom orders they specialize in at their Wilmington location.
"There's a certain clientele that doesn't want to order, doesn't want to plan that far out, and they want it now or they want the quality we have (in Wilmington) at a better price," Kevin Gray said. "Well, they can go over (to Leland) and get it, they just can't pick the fabrics or the finishes."
The store will offer options for every room, including mattresses and outdoor furniture. According to John Gray, the pair have been purchasing inventory for the store for over a year, using their longtime industry connections to buy showroom samples and closeout items that bring discount prices to customers."We do so much business in Brunswick County and with all the new homes being built, that's where the growth is because they have all the land," Gray said. "It was just the perfect time in the perfect place to do it."
